Episode #55 – Understand Crystal Pairings

Welcome to the Crystal Self Healer Podcast. I’m Corissa Weaver. On this podcast, we blend the magic of crystals with the science of psychology to help you break free from chaos, ditch the overwhelm, and master your emotions so you can have more energy, get more done, and feel better every day. Get ready to unlock your intuition and restore your true power as we cover how you can transform your life using crystals and self awareness.

Are you ready to get started? All right, let’s go.

Have you ever held a handful of crystals and wondered “Which ones work together?” And “How do I even begin to decide?”

Whether you’re making a crystal grid or you’re pulling taro cards, a question I get asked often is “How do you pair crystals?”

In the very first Crystal Self Healer episode, we talked about what crystal is right for you, this episode is a little different because we’re adding in other considerations like additional crystals or tarot cards.

In this episode we’re going to pull back the curtain to understand crystal pairings so you can confidently pick what crystal you’re going to work with. By the end of this episode, you’ll not only understand how to pair crystals with confidence, but also feel more connected and empowered in your spiritual practice.

You buy crystals thinking they’ll help, but then you feel stuck because you’re not sure how to combine them or use them with purpose.

Maybe you’re not just looking for a crystal to calm your anxiety: you’re looking for something that helps you feel grounded and in control of your energy.

I remember when I was starting out with crystals and all I wanted was to feel better. That’s it. That vague statement that I knew what it was, but couldn’t really put words on it.

And for this reason, of course, I told myself I didn’t know what crystals to work with or which ones would help me. This vague desire was the best way I could verbalize what I really wanted deep down: a method for using crystals that helped me manage my emotions every day. A way to feel connected, intuitive, and purposeful.

And I think this is one of the reasons that people struggle to be able to pair crystals because their underlying desire is so much deeper than the surface want.

Crystal pairings, while simple, is a lot more deep than you may think. And when I say deep, I don’t mean you need alphabet soup after your name to figure it out. But deep because it’s asking you to have awareness and acknowledge what it is you want. And how you are trying to get there.

Crystal pairing is the selection of two or more crystals to work together synergistically, either to amplify a desire, balance opposing energies, or enhance the focus of a specific intention or practice.

This can also be applied to the pairing of crystals with other tools like tarot, where the crystals compliment the energies of the cards, creating a deeper layer of meaning and energetic support.

Most often, I see my clients hesitant in picking their crystals or associating it to a need or desire.

There’s often a sense of distrust in their knowledge, their abilities and their intuition.

They’ve spent so much time researching and analyzing that they’ve created a loop they can’t seem to get out of.

Then they turn to the internet, or the books, and find the information gives them enough to keep them confused because it conflicts with another source or something they’ve learned in the past.

But the hesitation, self doubt, and overwhelm you feel when choosing crystals aren’t unique to you. Trust me, I’ve been there too.

In fact, I remember feeling so insecure when I began building healing grids or assigning crystals to tarot cards. The biggest shift was a mental one, when I finally tapped into some stubbornness and decided to do things because I wanted to. It was my own little game of FAFO but with some structure behind it.

Understand what it is you want to get out of the crystals. To put this another way, what energy are you calling in or wanting to release?

If you’re looking to balance or enhance energies, you may need different crystals to accomplish this.

For example, if you’re wanting to overcome obstacles that are standing in the way of you achieving your goals, you may want to pair a crystal that helps in clear thinking, like fluorite, with one that inspires action, like citrine.

Another alternative could be choosing a crystal that helps you release negative patterns that keep you stuck, like black obsidian, and then again, one that helps with taking action, like orange calcite.

At the end of the day, the magic is in selecting crystals that will help you tap into and anchor in the qualities you need in order to make progress on your goals.

When it comes to tarot cards, it’s the placement as well as the meaning of the card that gives you the jumping off point for which crystal to pair it with.

For example, if you have pulled the Ace of Swords and it’s placement is in the what to release, you’ll want a crystal that can help in counteracting the general interpretation of the card.

So with the Ace of Swords being about success, victory and new beginnings, and those qualities or properties are getting in your way, for example, maybe you drop projects for something new and shiny, you would want a crystal that is more rooted and grounded energy that also offers some sticktuitiveness like Tiger Eye. Is Tiger Eye the only crystal that would work here? No, but the properties it has support the energy that is the opposite of what you were wanting to release.

So I see a lot of people try something and then feel frustrated because it just didn’t go the way they wanted it to. Maybe you’re not seeing the results, or the results you’re getting aren’t the ones you wanted or needed. This is where sticktuitiveness is important.

This is the moment where you’re being called to review and revise what you did. Where you take what happened and learn from it by objectively evaluating what happened.

The first hurdle is to not take it personally if things didn’t go well. This is key when you’re playing with a FAFO Framework. It’s reminding yourself that you’re doing this ‘see what will happen’ part of the process to see if your chosen crystal pairing supports your intention.

The second is to figure out where there is a gap that you can adjust for. Revisit your original intention. Were you clear about what you wanted to achieve?

Then you get to decide if different crystals will address that gap. If you realize your original pairing didn’t quite align with your intention, consider swapping or adding a crystal that supports what you’re trying to accomplish.

So here’s what the Ace of Swords energy in the what to release position is suggesting in this scenario. It’s human nature to want to avoid uncomfortable feelings, feelings like failure or disappointment. But if you are constantly focusing on new beginnings, shiny new things and how they could be successful, you miss the opportunity to tweak what you have already done to find the success you were working toward originally.

It’s like the cartoon with the two people digging tunnels where one keeps digging to find the treasure, and the other gives up just feet away from the treasure. Which one of those people do you want to be?

So here’s why I’m offering Tiger Eye as a crystal to support you here.

Tiger Eye is a dynamic stone that brings together grounding energy with heightened clarity and discernment, making it an invaluable tool for understanding crystal pairings. It’s grounding properties anchor you in the present, providing a steady foundation for evaluating your choices and intentions with a clear head.

One of Tiger Eye’s stand out qualities is its ability to sharpen your discernment, helping you distinguish between options and align with what truly serves your goals. This energy supports the logical yet intuitive balance needed to pair crystals or interpret tarot cards effectively.

In addition, Tiger Eye stimulates the sacral and solar plexus chakras activating curiosity, creativity, and the willpower to explore deeper connections. This dual activation empowers you to approach your pairings with an open mind and the confidence to experiment while staying rooted in your intentions.

When paired with the energy of the Ace of Swords in the what to release position, Tiger Eye helps counteract tendencies to abandon projects prematurely. It grounds you in your commitment while sparking the curiosity and resolve needed to fine tune your efforts and see them through to completion.
